Why attend PreStartup Weekend BootCamps?

People are asking me why I am promoting an event over another event? I would be glad to explain.

Google and Startup Weekend are teaming up to assist developers and budding technopreneurs as they launch new start ups by providing PreStartup Weekend Bootcamps!

This year, Manila and Cebu are included in the list. Details is yet to be finalized, but we are hoping that the event will still be in University of the Philippines – Cebu College, the venue of the 2012 Cebu Startup Weekend.

Google Technology User Groups (GTUGs) and Startup Weekend partnerships is an ongoing partnership that dates back to the time when the Startup Weekend franchise is just starting.

What are GTUGs?
For those who are asking, “What are GTUGs?”. This refers to the user groups for people who are interested in Google’s developer technologies. They are founded and organized by local developers in cities around the world – you don’t have to be a Google employee to start or attend one. All you have to do is attend several meetups sanctioned by GTUGs to be become officially a member.

What Startup Weekend’s partnership with Google means:
By harnessing experts from local GTUGs these bootcamps will focus on teaching people about Google technologies like Android, App Engine, and different Google APIs that can help them perform their tasks faster and more productive during their actual Startup Weekend project.

Why pre-Startup Weekend bootcamps will improve Startup Weekend events?
During a Startup Weekend event there isn’t a lot of time for attendees to learn and implement new technologies. By partnering with GTUGs, we can leverage experienced and knowledgeable members of GTUG communities to provide experties to Startup Weekend participants. The goal is to teach these developers about a new technology, platform, service, or API.

Who is the target audience for the event?
The primary audience for this event is experienced developers who are attending, or thinking about attending, a Startup Weekend. Members of the local GTUG may also attend, but we encourage them to also participate in Startup Weekend. Automatically, each participants of the GTUGs + Pre-Startup Weekend BootCamp will receive 20% discount of the actual Startup Weekend rate.

In summary, the Startup Weekend + GTUG/GDG Bootcamp schedules are as follows:
