The top 3rd & 4th year college students from various leading Philippine universities and colleges once again gathered for the 7th Aboitiz FutureLeaders Business Summit (AFLBS), this time with the theme “Significantly Changing My Philippines”.
“It is encouraging to know that today’s young generation shows a greatsense of awareness and positive enthusiasm towards nation-building. The youth takes active role in shaping the future of our country. They will be instrumental in elevating ourselves to be at par with other leading countriesand in bringing pride to all of us in being a Filipino. But for them to shape our nation toward a better future, we need to shape their mindsets first. This is what we wish to accomplish during the summit. ” says Xavier “Txabi” Aboitiz, Chief Human Resource and Quality Officer of the Aboitiz Group.
7th Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit (AFLBS)
Each year the Aboitiz Group gathers about one hundred students from among thousands of applicants all over the country to a two-day conference to learn straight from its team of executives and resource speakers.
The summit conveys to them valuable knowledge on leadership and management, values and principles for success and how these areconcretized in a corporate environment and ultimately, in building thenation’s economy. The summit provides opportunities for the student delegates to interact, network, and establish ties with fellow delegates as well as the team members and leaders of the Aboitiz Group.
This year’s participants are a mix of students from various disciplines fromthe humanities, social sciences, engineering, communications, and business management.
The event began with a pre-summit tour of Cebu’s famous landmarks like the Magellan’s Cross, Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino, the house of Don Ramon Aboitiz, patriarch of the Aboitiz Group, and the office of Visayan Electric Company (VECO), one of AboitizPower’s subsidiaries. This was followed by the two-day intensive training with focused discussions, and various team building activities & challenges for the Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit delegates.

The Aboitiz Future Leaders Business Summit began as a local gathering of Cebu’s brightest minds, which grew into national scope which now includes Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao delegates. Over the summit’s history, participants included working scholars, athletes, honor students, and organizational leaders, each with his own story to tell.
